Lost Cause

yes,the same kid,hes been doing live webcasts about the car.
several of us older folks have tried to talk him into getting a better body to no avail.
whats Very surprising,
is both Nicks Garage and Uncle Johns shop are helping the kid out knowing full well what a pile the car is.
basically,im getting the vibe that the kid wants subscribers more than a decent car.
some of his antics are hellarious, esp him washing the heads in his dishwasher.

Dude.....props for him for even attempting to do that. I think its more about...."how far gone, is gone"....segement. I've seen some real masters do up basic cars just to teach and exemplify their craft and skills. Many old school British road car restorers have less to work with than this can, and they bring them back to life. Metal work is an art, along with paint and just about every other detail of car restoration. Every time I get a repair completed properly, and see that progress the next day....it propels me down the road....it's funny though, even as I finish a car, I get a little down because the chase is almost better then the result. Anyone ever get that?

.....so, Tony and more Nick....they both understand how the hobbyist may have stars in their eyes over getting a fix up a average roached out Mopar. They both run businesses around this to a degree and want to encourage folks to get out there and find a car. You and I, and everyone else on here knows....that the average rust hulk, like this guys car, is super hard to fix correctly...requiring more tools, money and skill than just going out and buying a car that's done...

i completely agree with you and ill provide more background..
this all started out with uncle tony telling this kid he could get to 20k subscribers by getting an old mopar and fixing it up.
the kid started with a 7k budget for rebuilding the motor and buying the car.
then he went out and picked possibly the worst body he could find, good lord what a rotter.
so far, weve watched the kid go thru the entire budget and he now has a messed up 318.
even Nick was ready to pull his hair out trying to make that mess of parts run.
if you watch the video i posted, maybe? you can figure out whos fault that was,but the kid threw uncle tony under the bus.
trashed him out on his live feed channel.
you know, the same guy who got him started and already to 7k subscribers....who went overboard helping the kid out....
and,if you are Really watching the vid, youll realize the kid is in Way over his head and has no idea of what hes doing.
if you look around his place and garage, youll also realize the kid has never finished anything.
this car is going to be a Black hole of disappearing money.

Major Props to Nicks garage for doing everything for Free!! for the kid.
also props to Nick for Endless Patience with the pile of carp they brought him.

ps,i personally offered this kid my rebuilt 360 and rebuilt trans for 1500.
so far he has 1200 in the messed up 318......................

I try not to be critical(although it's one of my strengths) but the whole strategy was really dumb.
You can pretty easily find a nice 5.2 or 5.9l magnum in good condition for cheap.
My son just bought another one last week for $250 I think with 55K on it.
It will make more power and outlast the junky 318 they built.
Throw it in untouched and build a fuel system if you are looking for cheap power.
But not in that car, no way.
I can't sit and watch him babble for over an hour.
Did he even look at the torsion bar crossmember?:screwy:
Any bets how long the bars hold that thing up?

Another project going upside down.... he is going to get an education for sure.
That thing is good for diving up it's giblets for better suited projects IMO. The kids gonna be soooo far in the red before the sparks stop flying.
Good luck with that
