Quick easy question: who makes a low deck intake for maxwedge heads? Is there a tunnel ram base with enough meat to open up to maxwedge size?

The 2 I built used an indy single plane (-1 head and max wedge head).
I honestly don't think a tunnel ram will make any extra power, unless maybe in a dragster with a 5 spd lol
Well not extra power, but useful power
*edit* I'm talking about sub-400 ci motors..

Indy is the only one I know. Looked into this for a while as well.

Good luck, my bet is that a single four Dominator would do the job for you.
I ran tunnel rams on my 440 & 400/452 motors for years. They worked great. But the single four 850 was pretty close, maybe .03 slower at best.

The track heat has enough meat to open up to the 270? Their catalog doesn't say. I'm sure it comes with 240 size ports.

I'm in the middle of opening up a Trick Flow Track Heat intake to match my TF 270 heads. Looks like it can be done but there is not much meat left on top of the runners. It will probably work but if your working with heads or a block that have been decked it might be a problem. I tried to buy a Indy low deck MW intake but last I checked they were back ordered.

It would make for a good/interesting dyno test.

Something fairly stout with TF270’s on it, tested with the ootb TF manifold vs one that the only work done to it is similar to what’s in the pic above(port matched only).
Then maybe a port matched Indy 400-2.

I was thinking Andy did that

I've been having trouble (of my own making, limitedpermissions you see)negotiating indy's site. But i finally found the 400-2 on Mancini, and Hughes. Mancini wants $600 for it, Hughes wants$500
I can't tell if either has it in stock.

It’s not in the article where they first tried the 270 heads.
That test compared the highly modified (by Wilson) M1 vs an ootb Indy.
The M1 won that comparison.

Then the Indy intake was sent to Wilson for porting.

In a subsequent test, the Wilson ported Indy beat the ported M1 by 15hp.

I know there were some tests with the TF intake, but I don’t recall a test where they opened the ports to MW size.

I spoke with Hughes Engines yesterday and the Indy low deck, MW, 4500 carb base intake manifold has not been in stock since early last winter and they show no future shipping date. Not a lot of good options for manifolds.

I'm using a t ram now on a 511. I think they need more gear, convertor maybe a trans break. Just went to the track with mine in a 3500# A body. previous best with an 1100 Dominator was [email protected] and 3400#. Best with T ram was [email protected] The t ram set up added about 50# and the exhaust another 50. the weather wasnt good either, so in the end, i would say it ran real close to the same foot braking. Using a SFT, i have a roller going in and some other updates. Will try again next year. I also ran non projected tip plugs in it this time, something i'm told you dont do on an n/a motor.
