The lower ball joint that i am trying to install on my 65 satellite seems to be too close to the knuckle to get a socket on the stud nut. are there supposed to be spacers between the ball joint and the knuckle?

Someone will have to chime in on installation….. I can’t assist you on that….

But , I do have *** U.S.A. Made *** LOWER BALL JOINT ASSEMBLIES —- if you determine that you have Chineseum made Wrong Ones…..

There shouldn't be spacers, however some have done it to correct alignment issues.
You can unbolt the knuckle from the lower balljoint too..

Or double up some wrenches. But be careful.

If the control arm is down then the angle will prevent a socket going on.

Sure, why not?

I've pulled the knuckle from the ball joints to put alignment spacers in between the ball joint and knuckle.
