mopar john #4 in the pic does does that rod have some kind of rubber bushings with it i am in the process of changing my m/c when i pulled it out looks like something was missing on the front of the shaft it was very hard to pull out bushings etc thanks

The way I understand it there are 3 rubber items on the master cylinder push rod.
The is an accordian style dust boot on the outside end.
Then there is a thick rubber band about mid way.
The one I have still has that band on it and I have attached a better picture.
Then way on the inside end is a special rubber piece that the end of the rod goes into.
The ball of the rod end presses into and expands it and then it holds the rod in place.
That is the item that made it difficult for you to pull the rod out of there!
Sometimes when you pull the rod out it tears up that locking seal.
