Hello I just purchased a new mechanical fuel pump to install this weekend. My question is how hard or easy is it to move the teeter totter arm? I just took it out of the box to look at it and the lever seems immovable? Just wondering if this is normal or defective...

Thanks

It should move but should be quite a bit of resistance in doing so with just holding it and pushing on it with just on hand it can be tough to do.

Yeah that spring is pretty stout. If I recall, holding the pump body in two hands and leaning on the lever against a workbench should budge it.

Either way, I wouldn't worry.

Your pump is just fine. I install mine kind of "nose down then lift up" & then slide it in and put the bolts in to make sure the "teeter totter" arm gets beneath the actuator rod that pushes it. You can do that swap in an hour.

Exactly. And sometimes the fuel pump pushrod will slide down and away from the cam. Just keep an eye out for that as you put the new one in
