Looks like the chp wants to stop restomods and alot more since Kevin Hart and friends wreck the 70 phymouth cuda with a hell cat in it's fenders. Hart picked the car up from Dems show. Of all things the car didn't have was seat belts. So folks we'll see you all over here in Arizona pretty quick.

First I've heard there were no seat belts in the car. Not sure why the builder would've built such a car & not put them in...

CHP can, as granny used to say, shit in one hand and want in the other and see which one fills up faster...they don't make policy. As I recall they wanted everything newer than '57 subject to inspections and smog at one time, even with a jackass politician backing the movement it went nowhere. I believe they're just trying to cause some alarm; afterall, this was one, non-fatality yet high-profile accident out of thousands that occur in fully compliant factory vehicles, because they can't seem to enforce the laws already on the books...They must be getting some heat from somewhere. And for the record, I fully stand behind the officers, heck I have family that serves, but this seems like knee-jerk BS to me!

I read a few comments somewhere that the build was poor
                  besides the missing seat belts...

Did I read correctly that the driver came out of a dead stop, made a turn at an intersection and just
matted the throttle, causing the ass end to swing out wildly?
Sounds like a lack of respect for the horsepower to me - dude ran out of talent in a hurry.

Also, as mentioned in the other thread, the white driver was Black which means that this is a clear cut case of having white privilege while being Black.

Guys, anytime their is an accident with major injuries or fatalities, the CHP ALWAYS tears the vehicle(s) apart to see if there were any mechanical issues that may have caused the accident.

With this accident, they are tearing it apart per SOP, but what they are saying right now, is that a car with this amount of power should have a 5 point harness not just factory seatbelts. Also, they are recommending that these “restomods” should have better restraints.

In my opinion, a car with that much power should have a 5 point harness, the injuries sustained would have been much less.

Hellcat roadkill wasn't a pretty sight. Very lucky they didn't get their ticket punched with that display of cranium/rectum inversion..

My solution to these idiots is a new, comprehensive law: all street vehicles over 350 horsepower will maintain a maximum speed of 55 MPH, regardless of road conditions. That way they can show off their fancy car all they want and at the same time running less of a chance of any us getting hurt.

In addition, the law must include the pork item of requiring a sanctioned drag strip available for weekend use that is located within a 50 mile radius of any residence in the lower 48 states. (LOL) And one more thing, Vote for ME!

A lot of our old big blocks are running around with only lap belts, right?
That was the law when they were built - and some of 'em ran some pretty good HP, too.
Is the CHP now deciding they're going to mandate more than federal law does/did?
