I'm looking for information for my dad who is wanting to stroke a 383. What kits do you guys recommend or have used yourselves. All info is appreciated thanks.

Friend just did 440 crank and rods in the 383 for 426 ish I think. Pulls good, revs quickly, sounds great.

If you can get your hands ona 400 block maybe do that one instead with the same crank and rods for 451 cubes or go longer stroke shorter rod for 470.

For the last 10 years I’ve been running a .030 over 383 with an Eagle 3.9” stroke crank, Eagle 6.760” H-beam rods, J&E #258035 forged pistons, with 84cc Edelbrock heads in my 65 Belvedere. Couldn’t be happier, revs quick, runs like a raped ape.

Runs like a "Raped Ape".
That phrase always cracks me up. An Ape that was violated could do any number of things BUT I would be MORE afraid of the animal capable of raping that ape.

Does that make me a primate-ist? Would scalded dog have been more appropriate? :poke:
