Does anybody out there have a definitive answer or idea of what the hell happened to Mopar performance cams why are their prices so high who makes their cams for them honestly who does there cam grinds I mean wow.
Hell you could have Comp Cam or probably another can manufacture grind you original grind I know comp cams makes their own version it seems to be a pretty good one.

Been that way for some time now. Chrysler has been bought and sold many times in the past 20 years
Every new owner thinks they know what's best for the consumer.
Remember when you could buy a Mopar Performance 360 crate engine for $3000 ?

I can’t answer that question, it’s a good one though. I’d like to know! However custom ordering a cam might be more pricey. To find out just call Comp or Lunati or .....
You’ll probably be happier after the phone call and final product is up and running.

A lot of people tend to rag on the Purple cams but they just simply flat out work when use as per the MP instructions. Never had one under perform.

I had Crower grind a custom solid flat tappet for my 440.
It rang up around 400 bucks.

        Cams aren’t cheap anymore.

My take on it is....... there was a point where the MP cam kits were a good “bang for the buck” value.
A few years ago the prices jumped way up, basically overnight...... to levels that I equate to them saying “we don’t want to sell cam kits for v8’s anymore”.
The BB 509-108 cam kit was over $500 for a little while.......and I think it’s still in the mid-400’s now.

There’s too many other options available for less money to where I’d ever consider spending that kind of $$$ on a MP cam kit.

        Edit- I guess it’s still over $500.

Most others are about $375(does it really cost over $150 more to grind a 509 cam, as opposed to a 484 cam?)

The Comp equivalent to the MP 509 cam...... less than 1/2 the $$$:

This is just my take on Ma Mopar, They don't want us owning old cars,so price parts out of this world and some may say,"I might as well spring for a new car that will run rings around this old stuff." I gotta say I know plenty of guys that have done just that.
One had a 67 R/T now has a HellCat Challenger.
Next a guy had a Clone Hemi 'Cuda convert,Now has a 392 Challenger.
And a guy that had a 72 built to the sky Dart, now drives a HellCat Wide Body.

....part of the allure for me, is the look on peoples faces when they see the dino-iron roll on past. Most folks respect a classic.
