I have a MP chrome ignition box and a Mopar electronic ignition distributor.
Which coil would ya'll recommend using with this?
Should a ballast resistor be used?
Are these ok for street use?

The recommend coil is in the MP book/catolog. I’d have to look it up.

Yes to the ballast resistor. The proper unit is also listed in the MP book/catolog.

I have been running mine in the street for ... I’d guess it has been 15 plus years now.

I’ll be back in a bit. I’ll look up the part numbers.

Coil P4120889
Resistor P5206436 (1 ohm)

IF these parts are no longer available, check with MSD (or whomever you choose) about there compatibility and specs.

OK, but m skipping everything you wrote because as I can’t read small novels.

Your question is why run a ballast resistor?

Because that is the way it was designed.

If you don’t want to run one like the factory suggests, then have at it and don’t blame me when things go south.

i use a 1.5 ohm pertronix coil and a msd resistor (.8 ohm) with msd 8.5mm wires; works perfect.

or a 3.0 pertronix coil and no resistor.
