Hello everyone! I’m a new member here although I’ve been reading through some of the threads for a while now. I just passed the one year anniversary of buying my first Mopar! I got a 1971 Dodge Charger with a 318 automatic from a family friend. He bought it nearly 20 years ago, drove it for a bit, then disassembled it in his yard with the intention to paint it. But you know how these things go... he got distracted by work, kids, and other projects. When I bought it he gave it to me on a rotisserie and all the parts in a dozen boxes. Initially I was just going to put it back together and drive it. But after I rebuilt and repainted the engine, bought a new manual transmission, and installed disc brakes I began to think it would be silly to have nice performance parts on a janky looking car. So I’m currently in the process of stripping the old paint then repainting it. Definitely not the most optimal order, but hind sight is 20/20, right? This is my first time building a whole car instead of fixing it so it’ll certainly be a learning experience. Here are some of the photos of what I’ve got so far!

One of my favorite year Chargers. I think you are heading in the right direction, I agree with your thinking and your plan to paint it. Cool it came on a rotisserie.
Welcome! Start a build thread

Welcome from Alabama, you are a brave man, having bought a disassembled car as your first Mopar and going forward with its restoration. The good thing is there is help here.
