Friends of mine have a 1955 Dodge Royal (see pic) with a stripped down block (see pic).

Any help on what size V-8's came in these cars in 1955 and would there be any identifying marks on the block? If so, approximate location?

Thanks.

Being a 1955 Dodge, it is probably a 270 Poly motor. Bore is 3.625 std with a 3.25 stroke. The teardrop pushrod holes make me think it is a poly. if you had a pics of the heads and vc, I would know for sure. There should be an ID stamp by the oil fill tube on the front, and it should be D551. If the car is a 1955 Royal Lancer, and stamped D55-3, then it is a 270 Hemi.

There is a lot of info here: http://hothemiheads.com/

And, a lot more in the links.
