Iwas told this trans and 440 were from a large 1976 or77 Dodge Van. Thanks for any info on this transmission.

I'm pretty sure the short tail transmissions were for the longer trucks that used a center carrier bearing in the driveshafts. Club cab and crew cab pickups, and the "maxi" vans. (The ones with the long rear overhang)

With the yoke on the rear of the trans, it will require a two piece driveshaft, with a slip joint in between.

In your second pic, right near the steel trans cooler line..... clean off the pan rail carefully and find the numbers along that side...maybe a quarter inch high, and likely starts with PK......
Get us info we can probably nail the application down pretty well.

Numbers look like PK 4039532 6116 4058 Thanks for any info

Built on April 26, 1978. So that whole setup prolly '78 model year.
Would not be surprised to find 4 pinion planets in that trans.
