So were looking at a new used vehicle tomorrow.
I was gonna trade in my 06 Dakota TRX4, but my dad wants it at the last minute. I asked him weeks ago if he wanted to trade it for his 03 Exploder. Now I have to go in, no trade in and the car might need tires, the tires on these cars are known to last only another 40k the car has 38k on it. Any hints for getting some new skins, I normally don't buy from dealers and use cash so I'm clueless. Thanks

You could try saying it's a safety issue. Check the DOT codes on the tires and see how old they are. If they are old and at the end of their tread life then I'd say you have a pretty good chance.

If you like the vehicle, offer less and when they counter tell them to throw on a set of new baloney skins and they have a deal! 440'

Its a 2017, think ill bring my depth gage, check all 4 in front of the sales prick.

What kind of vehicle are you purchasing? You might be able to get the dealer to throw in 4 "virgins" in the sale.

Don't wanna say lol, got flamed for it.
Its my wife's commuter.
Saw they had some Mastercraft in stock on sale for 99 a skin. I only use Cooper so it works out.
They might give me **** cause oem is 215s, thes are 235s, wider is always better, but not too wide

I just bought my wife a 2021 Toyota Highlander. I don't care what anyone says, it's what SHE wanted.

A 2017 Volt. Can't believe I'm gonna have a Chevy in my garage. Years ago she wanted a Cayenne. We tested 2, hell if id work on em, she heard one with a Borla an loved it. Thank God she loves her JK, I'd hat having to work on it. So she keeps he JK and drives the electric 66 miles a day, free charge at work.

I still say that you should negotiate in new meat as part of the sale. Tires don't cost a dealer much of anything. Maybe agree to pay 50 bucks a tire.

So many strategies you can use.
1.mr. data with the market data on they make and model known
2. Mr. Infatuated, love the car but mr. Salesmen how am I supposed to pay that much?
3. Low anchor - offer very low to shock and upset where salesman expects to be. Caution, I got escorted out of a dealer after trying this once :elmer:
4. Use their 999 point used car safety inspection against them if the tires are no good or expired. Get new brake pads as well as long as they have the wheels off.

When I purchased my wife's 2021 Toyota, I spent 3 hours arguing with the salesman and sales manager until I got the price that I wanted. I won!! They need us more than we need them!!!

Yup, good work.
Everyone can look at truecar.com and such to see the deal range. Another strategy is to take that data in and say "I'm exceptional and you're an exceptional salesperson I can tell, so then let's get this deal in the exceptional range on this paper"
Lightens the mood but makes the point and sets your expectation

I did the same when we bought her 300.
She was like " I've never seen you be like that before". Back seat was broken in less that an hour later lol.

You're NOT doing the dirty in the back of a Volt!!! I think it's a Federal law or something.

I wouldn't disrespect her by doing in a chevy either.

I had them plug it in so it's full charge, also you can see on the touch screen the EV vs Gas.
Since its China flu season i get a solo drive.
I can see range drop. ******* weird I know this ****. Also my welder will share a car plug, until I junction.

I hate buying cars! I am lucky to have a great dealer that buys my shop equipment and I buy my cars from him.

My thoughts are there is a glut of used vehicles in part because of lease turn ins and much more wiggle room to negotiate....
Your better off with no trade, check in hand is always the way to go
Personally id want to buy my own tires. Figure your Botton line you'd pay for that car if the tires were fairly new and then deduct the cost of the tires you want , mounted, balanced of course....Dont forget a wheel alignment.
On another note, im suspect of a dealer that puts a car out there for sale with worn tires
Best of luck
