but I've been a Gold member on FABO a long time.

My favorite B-body is a 68 Charger, followed by 68 Road Runners.

True story, I was laying in bed one night about 2 months ago and had come to the realization I'd never own one. 2 weeks later my GF asked if I wanted to go out for lunch with her family. She said her male cousin had died of a heart attack in May at 72. The family had not kept in touch with him over the years but she wanted to show support for the widow. And by the way, apparently Tyler was a Mopar guy and she had a couple cars she wanted to sell. BOING!
I made it a point to sit across from the widow and after a while I asked her about the cars. She said one was a 72 'cuda and the other a 69 Charger. The cuda was at her house and the Charger was in a self serve storage garage.

I told her I'd like to see them and she said OK but not til she got back from Florida. She sent a few pictures and a short video to my GF and she then forwarded them to me. The video was about 3 mins long done by her late husband of the Charger running but not driving.

I went to the big Mopar show at Norwalk Sept 20-21 and sitting around a campfire with about 8 other Mopar buddies, I said I might have an opportunity to buy a 69 Charger. After seeing the pics and video they all said buy it! It's a no-brainer if you can get it for 20-25K.

I had to wait until she got back from Florida and finally on Oct 3 my GF and I went to her house which was only a few miles away.
I checked out the 73 340 4 speed cuda which was "done" after many years.
After searching for keys, I drove them another 3 miles or so, opened the door and there it was. Hadn't moved in 12 yrs.

Welcome. After that story, you have to show us some pictures. We like pictures...

Welcome from Alabama, great story. Now we need pictures. I like my A bodies, but my B bodies are tops.

Welcome to the "Darkside" or To FBBO from NorCal Sierras

Welcome from the midwest...a lot of us have a variety of cars and are members of both sites!

Going from one side of the family to the other. Sorry her husband passed , Glad you got the charger instead of some flipper.

Welcome to the dark side. I was on A Bodies for years with my 69 cuda, and moved over here about 4 years ago when I bought my 66 Charger. I still hang around there too.

Took you long enough to find out that a 1968 A body didn’t handle as well as a B body back in the same year . Test drove a 68 340 Fastback Barracuda in October 1968. Got very scary at 110mph spanking a fellow crew members 68 Cougar XR7 .

Welcome aboard from Ohio. Where’s the pics(?), not snowing yet!

Of course I tried posting pics but for some reason it didn't work.

More info: I got a pile of miscellaneous receipts from her. The earliest is from 1984 and is a CA smog check done in Ridgecrest. Funny I have a cuda buddy there.
Summarizing, the same owner (Frank) got a temporary tag in 1988 in Ohio so that's how it got here. I looked the address up and records show the house hasn't sold since then so I think I'll knock on his door one day and get more info from him. I think he wanted to change it into a racecar and removed the AC, console, deleted the carpet, etc. Someone crudely welded plates over the firewall and floor shift holes.
There is a receipt from a local shop (Transmissions by Bruce) with no date for a "pro-street' trans and torque converter and installation of a Direct Connection reverse pattern manual valve body and Hurst V-gate shifter welded to the floor. Also, they put a 3.23 742 Sure-grip in.

Then in early 1996 it was sold to another guy (Mike) who only had it until about Christmas, 1996 when Tyler bought it. I have a couple receipts with Mike's name on it and it looks like he died about 5 yrs ago. I have the newspaper ad where it was listed fir $2500.

The widow (I'll call her Helga) remembers hubby bought it about Chrustmas time and the big Manila folder with all the receipts has a Jan 97 date written on the outside. There are a lot of receipts with his name on it for brake parts, front suspension parts, alignment, etc. Tyler was working on the 72 cuda in their one car garage so the Charger soon went to Helga's brother's place where it sat in his large outbuilding (concrete floor) until about 12-13 yrs ago where it's been ever since.

I went there about 10 days ago with a buddy and it started pretty easily using the Roadkill red plastic gas tank behind the grille method. I drove it back and forth a bit then backed it into the garage. The 1 gal tank was just about empty. It is pig rich at idle but I just need to drive it the 6 miles to my GF's garage tomorrow morning. (Sunday) I'm taking another 2.5 gal tank along cause I doubt 1 gal is enough to make it all the way.

First impressions: it is loud and has a very loose converter. Just to back it over a 1" curb by the garage door took a LOT of throttle.

I do have the build sheet! 383 2bbl. But no body tag yet. I'll try again to post pics and more info to follow.
