Hello all thanks for taking the time to see my thread.

I have a 1971 Coronet VIN: WH23G1E151223
2 door with the 318 2 barrel.
6 gen hardtop with original ac
Built in LA

Bascially my question is why does this vehicle have markings of it being a charger? However title say Coronet VINS on car and title match. So what is this car?

You have a 71 Charger. Some state jurisdictions did a poor job of factory VIN translation back in the day. To make things weirder, there was no such thing as a 2dr Coronet in 71-74. Chrysler consolidated the car lines. WH23G1 is a 71 Charger with a 318.

Congratulations! You're a Charger owner.

congrats and welcome to the site.

Welcome from Michigan and yep.....your a Charger owner now, like Demonic stated. Here's 71 Coronet

Welcome from Alabama, it's a Mopar, join the fun.

Welcome aboard from Ohio. Nice ride.

Welcome from Missouri!! That was like being at a gender reveal party!! Congrats, it's a Charger!!!

For 71 Dodge consolidated their mid sized B body line up. The X VIN destination used on Chargers was dropped and the W designation used on Coronets was kept.

Four door W cars were badged Coronets and two door W cars were badged Chargers.

Your VIN indicates a car called a Coronet.
