Need to replace the pan gasket on my 1970 727. Should change the filter also while at it. Any suggestions on the best type and/or brand of gasket and filter to use. Also anything special I need to do when changing the filter?

Found these two Mopar Performance kits at an on-line supplier...whats the difference between the two...one is alot higher in price.

this one costs more but has more parts?

This one just shows a gasket and the filter...does one need the extra parts in the one above?

thanks

If you are using a stock transmission pan, the 2nd one will work.
If you are using a deeper pan on the transmission than stock, use the 1st kit.

The only thing I would throw in..... if you're not going for the "stock" look.... add one of those B&M transmission drain plugs you can get at any speed shop (I think O'Reilly has them too). It's basically like adding a drain plug to your trans pan. It won't help you this time, but next time you drop the pan you won't be covered in Dex/Merc.
