Back in the 60's and 70's, Racers like Dick Landy, Sox and Martin, The Ramchargers etc used to do performance clinics periodically. Does anyone happen to have any footage of any of these clinics? Not just snippets that are on Youtube, but a whole clinic? Unfortunately I wasn't born in the glory days of drag racing, I can only imagine what those clinics were like. Stories like those fascinate me. It seemed back then racing had more a culture to it, and not a corporate run organization like it is today.

That would be hard to find, MO. 16mm Movie camera with 100' of film lasts 8 minutes. So 60 minutes, 8 rolls of film at least $25 a roll to buy and develop. A good weeks pay $300, it's a tough find. Video tape only pro's.

I was trying to find the actual performance clinics,
maybe started 1967- went thru 70-71-ish IIRC,
Ronnie Sox held at Plymouth Dealerships
        & drag-strips, hands on stuff
MY step Dad Bob, had took me to
at IIRC (?) SF, Burlingame &/or maybe Fremont Chrysler Plymouth
        when I was 8-9-10-11-12-ish
Ronnie Sox talked about, all kinds of subjects & some hands on stuff
engine timing, coils, plugs, valve-lash loose or tight
tires, clutches, shocks, slapper bars, S/S springs, gears etc.
there was a track day too Fremont/Baylands IIRC

        Prudhomme was at 1 IIRC

        maybe over at www.Mymopar.com ?
        or over at www.AllPar.com ?

My wife managed to find a copy of the book of Drag Racing written by Ronnie Sox and Martin, (My wife is awesome). I would have loved to been around for them to sign it. that book is fantastic! One of my dreams is to build a 1960's Super Stock car, or a 1970-71 Pro Stock car. There are so many nostalgia classes out there it seems, I haven't quite figured out exactly which one I'd like to race in, but It would for sure need to be the class that represents these cars from the day.

I went to a Landy clinic (68 or 69) in Muskegon ,MI at Muskegon Dodge. I can't remember much and I am not sure of any literature either. Just remember going.

I was in the middle of all of it. Match Racing my altered wheelbase Hilborn Injected Nitro Burning Plymouth Funny Car. Funny Car racing from 1966 thru 1969. Ran my 63 Max Wedge Lightweight in NHRA from 1963 thru 1965...I even competed at the NHRA NATIONALS at Indy in 1965 running in the AA/SA class.

Nice to see the cars you ran back then. Did you ever run at Detroit dragway? I followed all the SS class back then and knew a few who ran there. Your car Goldfinger reminds me of a car Paul Rossi ran a 65 Comet called Goldfender. Paul also drove for Westborn Plymouth the last was 1964. To me that was more traditional racing and more entertaining than it is today. Westborn_zpsaaf1c294.jpg

I don't have any films or documents of classes from back then but I attended a few of meetings on drag racing put on by Ford racing back in the sixties. I even got help and discounts on performance parts on an FE engine I was building at the time.

Youre in Georgia, check out SEGA, south east gasser assoc. They run gassers, but also a superstock class, run both as if it were 1967.
They are two thousand miles away, or I would be building something to run there.
I will mention that they now seem to have trouble with people buying big money engines. Typical problem, some dickhead with bucks has to ruin the fun for everbody.

I know this is a B bodies page but i figured it wouldn't be any harm sharing some photos of my 1970 Challenger race car. This car has been through a lot of fazes. I have owned it since I was 19 years old. The first photo of it in primer black was the first year I had it all together. The second photo is how I raced the car for several years. 2 years ago the flywheel slung apart and took out the starter, cut the bell housing and some other damage, Main bearings took a little hit due to the vibration. It slung apart at about 150 Ft, car shook harder than a bear trying to crap out a peach seed. I haven't been back on the track since then due to taking care of life priorities. During the 2 year down time, I decided to repaint the car and freshen up engine, which leads to the third/fourth photo. The car's name is "Hollowpoint", I am gonna get some lettering done sometime. I didn't have the engine in the car in these photos. I love hearing y'alls nostalgia stories, they have so much culture that racing doesn't seem to have anymore.
