Not trying to be hardcore but this is poetic justice.

Those were fun, walk by bump the car and set it off. Wait for the owner to come and reset it. Wait for them to get out of site, then repeat, repeat, repeat.:rofl:

She keeps calling them "cat convertors". Never heard her say catalytic. Wonder how many clueless people listening think it is some kind of device for transgender felines??
On Pontiacs They are Catalina Covertables......

When my buddy worked at Penske, all their cats got jacked overnight. Really screwed thing up for them and the renters. Hate thieves.

Yeah this crap is out of control including car hijacking/thefts. A lot of these scum sucks are teenagers who are back out on the streets doing the same thing again 24 hours after they got nabbed. There's a root cause here. Having my belongings stolen is just infuriating including stuff that was irreplaceable. Last item was a watch my mom gave my dad as a gift before I was born with an inscription engraved. I was going to get a new band for it to give to my nephew. My folks are long departed now and that 'lift' was especially painful. *******, wish I could have 2 minutes with the scum *** that stole it with a frying pan in my hand.

In the old west they had a method of dealing with horse thieves that assured the skank wad wouldn't be out doing it again. We're too civilized today; but these fucks are pussy-footed around with - with no fear of consequences stealing other's possessions, so the next time they pull this it could cost an innocent person their life...as it has...

Catch and release so we don’t over populate our prisons as that’s inhumane... about as Inhumane as the southern border bs ... thanks JB.

You can buy 2 brand new high flow catalytic converters. On ebay for about $100 what's the difference between these and the oem ones that are being stolen.. if someone stole the cat from my Dakota. I'd fix it myself for $50.oo no big deal. Or am I wrong?

the one for my cummins ram is 1875.00 plus a 300 core charge checked a couple sites but didn't go any further, that was the cheapest out of three places. new of course.

Depends on where you live... In many states (and certainly in California) you need a cat with an EO #

https://www.walkerexhaust.com/support/tech-tips/state-catalytic-converter-guide.html

The states referenced below currently have their own regulations governing the sale and installation of aftermarket converters.

COLORADO (Effective 1/1/2021) AND CALIFORNIA (Effective 1/1/2009)
CARB-compliant aftermarket replacement converters are required for any vehicle operated in these states.
COLORADO- AND CALIFORNIA-COMPLIANT INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS
Effective January 1, 2021 for Colorado and January 1, 2009 for California, new aftermarket catalytic converters sold or installed in Colorado or California must meet the following requirements:

  • Be labeled or tagged with a CARB EO (Executive Order) number indicating the converter complies with California’s requirements for aftermarket converters.

  • Be installed only on applications listed in the manufacturer’s Vehicle Application Catalog and per CARB’s Installation Guidelines.

  • Be warranted for 5 years/50,000 miles, and cover the cost of parts and labor.

  • Be compatible with OBD catalyst monitors. This includes making sure converters won't cause false catalyst codes, while also making sure that the OBD system will continue to set a catalyst fault code if the aftermarket converter fails.

NOTE: CARB permits any aftermarket converter to be installed on vehicles older than 5 years and for which the OE emission warranty has expired.

MAINE (Effective 6/1/2018)

CARB-compliant aftermarket replacement converters are required for California Emissions Certified vehicles, model years 2001 and newer, operated in the state. EPA-compliant converters may be used on vehicles from model years 2000 and older, OR all Federal/EPA-only Emissions Certified vehicles, regardless of model year.

NEW YORK (Effective 6/1/2013)
CARB-compliant aftermarket replacement converters are required for California Emissions Certified vehicles – model years 1993, 1994 or 1996 and newer – operated in the state. EPA-compliant converters may be used on vehicles from model years 1995, 1992 and older, OR all Federal/EPA-only Emissions Certified vehicles regardless of model year.

The amount of precious platinum in them is the big deal. Oem last much longer than 90% of the aftermarket and some are installed in places where an aftermarket won’t fit .. like coming right off the manifold etc. Oem filter/ clean up much better and are required to last much longer than others. I do believe they are truly better and they fit right too. IMO

Wow. I learned a lot about catalytic converters today. I live in Florida and we don't have vehicle inspections. So Florida is a good placed to be, if you're a car guy.

Leave them on unless your at the track , it’s federal law. I don’t mind them they are much better than the 70’s.

Here is a link to a shop in Texas that sell all types of converters for any state.

https://converterwarehouse.com/

I used them several years ago when a cat went bad on my wife's Supra. It was "dirt cheap" compared to dealer cost and it was legal for use in
California.

Theft like this is one of the lowest priorities for cops around here. Their answer to property crime - "Do you have insurance?" That isn't the point, you stupid, donut-eating prick!

They'll be happy to engage in a high-speed pursuit to catch a shoplifter or a guy coasting through a stop sign, though.

I generally have always supported cops, it's a tough job making everyone obey the rules.... Accept it seems they don't really make everyone obey the rules.. Just those who have something to lose and aren't in the protected class....

About three years ago I installed a camera system around my house... I have video of a hit & run in front of my house... I found out where the driver lives... Cops won't even knock on his door....

I also have video of a low life stealing one of my cameras... Again I know where the guy lives... Cops again won't do anything....

But if I were to go have some vigilante type justice I'd be locked up... And as patrick66 mentioned roll a stop sign & your easy pickings....

I hate to say it but my support for cops is waining....

Well here in fl your lucky if people have exhaust on there car . Cats are always removed. I did the ones on my f250 5.4
New setup (4 small ones) was only $250

There's buyers that come threw often find one near you tell them what you got I started buying cars off his list of $$$$ cats buy a junker for $500 sell car for $1200 and part decent stuff out scrap rest

One day Marshall law will take into effect, big business will be controlled.. Everything built tallied from factories kept in vaults that are sold to and in states.. One day all converters will be able to be tracked from state to state just like everything else somehow unfortunately in the future by advanced tracking. god bless both sides but damn that’s sad. I remember someone stole my converter off my old 93 pick up and I wished I could find it.

A little off subject. One time I walked into my buddy's shop in the summer and his receptionist was covered in sweat. I noticed it was kind of warm. Knowing my buddy is kinda cheap I said hey man why don't you turn on the ac. He said he did, it didn't work. So he started to check for problems. He went outside and somebody stole the whole compressor from him and the neighbor buildings.
I guess some pickup pulled into a scrap dealer with a shitload of compressors before the cops notified them. They never got caught

Yes I believe in “martial law” law a us marshal will be position in each county before Martial law happens to help introduce new guidelines to the local counties. A great idea is a federal agent stationed in each county during the upbringing to martial law to help teach the locale what to do around the county before it’s enacted. I’m still thinking Marshall law had to edit. Thanks for the information on martial law instead of Marshall law.
Martial Law. A US Marshal might help to enforce Martial Law by marshaling his forces.

Marshall (with two "l"s) is always a proper noun...Bob Marshall. Marshall Islands.
