Pretty funny story to share but also a sign of the times. I was planning on doing it myself but time got away and the cold weather has sent in.

Took the car down to a Valvoline shop with the oil & filter I had bought. They only charge $30 to do it.

1st question: How do you open the hood? Had to show them.
2nd question: Where does the oil go in? Had to show them.
3rd question: Where's the dipstick? Had to show them.

Driving back east recently for my moms funeral, I got the change oil message. I contemplated doing it myself, but not being at home with my tools and space, I searched for a local Dodge dealer to do it. My sister and brother-in-law (and others) asked why I just wouldn't just go the a Jiffy Lube or Oil Can Henry's? My comment was that even on the worst day, that I would NEVER go to one of one of those places. I got to the dealer, requested synthetic oil, Mopar filter, and Mopar washer fluid (low too) and walked the lot looking at the trucks Chargers, and Challengers. I drove away about an hour later, AND they did two safety recall flashes too. Put on 6000 miles that trip, and half way thru the new oil life... :steering:

Did they wipe off all the oil that spills everywhere when the filter comes out?

I kept a close aye on them & made sure all was done correctly before I drove off. Note to self, change the oil in Sept next year.

I was expecting to get an Indian summer after the 1st frost but looks like that ain't happening this year.

Years back I took the wifes 03 Impala to Sears Service center for a new set of 4 tires. I looked around the store , heard my name paged, went to get the car and pay the bill. It was close to $100? do not recall the exact ammt.
Anyway they had done a coolant flush and fill and no tires.
We got things straight, got my 4 tires on and no charge for the coolant flush and fill.
To Sears credit , I offered to pay for the coolant if they would eat the labor. They said no , it was their screw up, no charge.

That's the way it should be!

Nobody changes the oil but me. I wouldn’t pull into a Dodge Dealer IF THEY PAID ME.

I have a good friend who owns his own repair business. ASE Certified and has raced for about 40 years. By the way he has a 70 'Cuda Hemi and a 71 Duster Hemi. Don't go near dealerships!:bananadance:

What kind of car?

Everybody’s got their own deal, I do my personal stuff just because I’m cheap and impatient. I have a fleet car for work and I go through oil change places. Makes me nuts screwing around and waiting. BTW - the Valvoline IOC I use for that is pretty good, they just screw around a bit too much. Oh and, when I see what they charge, usually a minimum of $65 for LOF, I remember why I do it myself.

Dodge Dealer here is an incompetent ***. Normandin, San Jose. Doesn’t know which way is up. Only Amsoil goes in my cars. I pre fill filters, make sure the Wix gasket came off, hand tight etc. A snob. My way or highway on oil changes.

I guess the first question is, why in the hell would you take a classic muscle car to one of those places in the first place? :screwy:
My youngest son actually works at a Valvoline Quick Lube. Below is his daily driver to work.
Too bad you don't use his shop.
On the other side of it, he has quite a few stories about the knuckle head customers that come in.
