Just had my oil pan gasket replaced for the second time in two years I also had rear main replaced two years ago. I was wondering is the rear main bad again or if it’s normal. I’m getting tired of throwing money at shops and the leak not getting fixed. Here’s a picture of trans dust cover where I’m see oil. The leak is not has bad has before oil pan gasket gasket was replaced the second time.

I have been working on my cars since I was a teen in the 1970s. Including complete engine rebuilds. And it seems that in the last few years, I have had similar issues. I am hoping I am not that bad of a mechanic... I honestly suspect that the quality of the parts that are now mostly made in China is not very good. Too many "failures" these days.

      I was told long ago "If it don't leak,It ain't a MOPAR".
My truck 318 leaks,so does my 63 and my 65. All with fresh seals.Well I guess the truck was 6 years ago.
I will tell you what you can do.This is for small drips that show up on your garage floor.(Not puddles) Make a little tin pan that connects to the 2 bolt holes of your converter cover plate. In that pan get a women's maxi pad and place inside. When you bolt it up the curve of the tranny base will help hold it in place.Don't laugh it works. Change the pad when you change the oil. It will keep the floor and the tranny clean ! If you want I can take pictures of mine.

I was wondering the same thing. I ended up putting a hose clamp on carb side of the pcv hose maybe im not getting good vaccum. Using 3/8 fuel fuse.

pcv valve on one valve cover, breather cap on the other.......... clean air gets pulled in through the breather cap, across the engine to the other side and through the pcv valve..... if the breather is clogged, or doesn't exist, there is nothing for the pcv to suck

been a while but I remember being able to remove the breather cap and put a dollar bill over the hole to check for suction.........

Not feeling any suction from valve cover but I do from the pcv valve.

I read this advice some time ago and I agree it would soak up some drips but also I wondered if it might become a fire hazard. Over-thinking?

Just this morning I was waiting in line to check out some groceries/dog food at WalMart. The pretty young girl in front of me had a funny look on her face as she glanced back at me and all around her. I wondered what could be troubling her. As I began to sort my stuff on the rubber belt, I saw the one small item she set down for the cashier was in a box marked "tampons". I don't think she was contemplating an oil change (maybe wanted to hurry up and check-out before an old guy like me saw what her purchase was or maybe anxious about preventing an accident/stain).

If it leaks it’s broken! Or a shitty mechanic has been working on it.

ChryCo used to throw in a 'vibration' pad on top of the valley pan just under the intake. Kinda reminded me of a pad.....

Do some gear work and I think you would change your mind.....rear ends always smell bad to me.

Probably no worse than what ChryCo used under the intake like mentioned above.

Old folks revert to diapers in their latter days. Our cars are over 50 now,I guess they can have unexpected leaks too.
