OK A12 guys I want to stir the Sh@# :)

Ok so I browsing some TSB from 1969 and come across this one that talks about how to set up the six pack and hood etc. It is dated 1-15-69? so makes me think the A12 option was not a 69-1/2 deal but they always knew about it and was just another option. Opinions/ comments?

It would seem that your research actual lends proof that it's a 69-1/2 deal.

The "half" year starts Febraury 1, 1969. The TSB is released 2 weeks earlier. It would seem Chrysler spent a few months on the details, and then the TSB is part of the A12 availabilty (coming to market).

Do I remember correctly that A12s have build dates starting in March 1969?

Dater 8-5-69. I think the reason I am doing this is because I am going to turn my 69 in to a cloned A12 It may take a few more years to get it complete but I want a six pack 4 speed. Interesting debate though.

That's the project planning document.

The earliest A12 RR, as well as the first 'batch' of A12's, carries a 323 SPD but the VIN assignment is more in line with a car with an SPD of 311. So A12's probably started rolling off the line about the second week of March 1969.

Read a few posts up. They didn't go by calendar year - the 1969 model year started August, 1 1968. Six months later gets you to February 1. That calendar is how my 1970 Road Runner was built in October 1969 but is a 1970car.

Hey guys, the 1/2 (year) designation was really something that the press used but they were correct because auto manufacturing was based on and still is on MODEL YEAR not a calendar year. With Chrysler production starting in August for the MODEL YEAR that would make February six months (or seven months depending on how you count) into the MODEL YEAR production. The Scheduled Production Date for the first run of A12 package optioned cars was March 29, 1969 and the second batch was April 26, 1969 well into the MODEL YEAR production.
