Oldest nephew is excited, found him the perfect demolition derby car.He is 15 turning 16 in a couple weeks.A good customer of ours brought in her 2001 Ford Taurus that needed more work than it was worth,A/C issues including electrical problems.Talked to her and she knew it was time to find something better.I offered a good amount of money for the car to her and took it.Showed it to him and he knows what to strip out of it.It will be his first time doing demolition derby this this year.We got him a helmet and racing suit to wear as his Christmas present already

please be safe in the derby and have fun.

A coworker's son signed up for it shortly after he got his license & once he did it, he never wanted to do it again.

a good investment would be a helmet neck brace, he's going to need it!!

@Don Frelier is a seasoned vet when it comes to demo stuff if you need any advice.

Don's son is big into demolition derby, and he is damn good at it !

I thought that any car driven by a 15 year old was Demolition Derby.

Front wheel drive for a demo car ????

Yes but he's been doing it for like 6 years now.
It took a few years to figure out how to avoid stupid little things from stopping the action.
He's had good success with the "full size" GM front wheel drive vehicles with a 3.8L.
They get modified quite a bit to get to take this kind of punishment.
This one was just unbelievable won it's first four entries and finished 3rd against full size cars in 2019.
It won $2,400 in prize money.
We could have driven it on the trailer but the bottom was so bellied out we had to drag it over some metal roofing.
It was probably 6 feet shorter when it went to the scrapyard.

Depending on how the Derby start is set-up.
Make sure he avoids the temptation for a full track hi speed shot at the beginning. It can be really dangerous and a good way to lose right away.
