Hello all, I have an opportunity to trade a 73 /340 all there but apart for a 10/42000 mile 5.7 hemi and trans, rear end, wiring harness ,computer , odometer all for the 340 that needs honed and the heads done . What do you all think?

Sounds like a great deal...if you have something to put it in...or a plan of something you would like to put it in. The 340s real value is when it goes in the car it was born with. These days a 360 can cheaply be built to out perform that 340.

Yeah I have a 70 satellite to put it in. Value wise I'm thinking the hemi set up is worth a lot more. Thanks for your comment.

hemi is better value.....as a sidenote....I'll take a built 340 over a 360 any day...with all being even

A good trade on your end. Has anybody ever asked "That thing got a low compression cast crank 340 in it " ?

It was a 73 /340

Ill definitely need your input

You will like that 5.7 in the Satellite. Be VERY diligent in researching the transmission issues if you are talking NAG1 Take a look at my thread "B Body Stiffening" In the member projects section, particularly the last several pages to read what my issues were with all of that.

Good deal the 73 340's arnt that great . Early 72 and older and I would of had to think about that deal a little bit .
