Well I finally pulled the trigger on the Rev N Nator spark module and coil last night after my second Mopar ECU left me stuck on the shoulder of the road. It was the better chrome box which lasted 11 months (5 storage months). Pisses me off but whatever. NAPA box got me to the show and home but it runs like shit so I am upgrading to a hotter box. I will keep everyone posted how I like it when I get it within the next week or so. I have heard some good stuff on it and I like the way it looks like a orange box on my resto I have. Hope it works as good as I have heard.

I also went with it. But not up running yet. Be sure to reset your timing as I know different boxes have different timing built into them. I do like the looks of them. Plus the rev limiter is a good idea.

I have been pleased with the 100 miles or so I have on mine. I purchased the full kit (dist, coil, and box) for my new 512. That said, they just released a 2018 version to correct supposed emi interference on the '17 units. When I called in, they offered to replace my unit with a new one if I experienced this. We will see.

Awesome guys! Yea I am excited to run this thing and hopefully not replace the damn thing every 6 months like the Mopar boxes lately. I will check the total timing as soon as I fire it up just to ensure it didn't move. I should be getting the '18 version then because I purchased it directly from RTGarage.

I know they are pretty clear about not removing any stickers on the box. Probably for this reason.

i like the chrome box better, but rev n nator is good and performs very well. I like the rev limiter and may install it again but not being able to use vacuum advance is annoying. Nice people at the rt garage.

Well enjoy it while you can lol, because MOPAR seems to have discontinued all their boxes. The dealer, summit, and a few others all list them as discontinued. That is ok because after burning up an orange box and a chrome box within a year, I am checking out on their chinese shit and going to use something more reliable.:)

Jegs has this so called high rev version comparable to the chrome box made in the USA and for 35.00 for this money I would try this to see if it is even better than the orange box and have for a spare also. The stock ecu is an economy box lower power, but reliable, I have over 140000 miles on my original ECU

I see quite a few members with pictures of electronic ignition conversions yet they still have the points style voltage regulator.
The voltage regulator should be upgraded to electronic and the same time (requires a newer 2 wire alternator).
I think there is a good possibility that using the points style regulator contributes to premature failure on the orange boxes.
That said, I had one fail despite having a newer style regulator and alternator.
If you really want a BIG improvement I would recommend the MSD street fire capacitive discharge unit, but that takes away from the pure "Mopar" look many of us like.

I have been happy with my FBO system. Custom curved distributor according to my engine build specs, adjustable for fine tuning. Factory harness plugs into module and the module has a rev limiter that staggers the cylinders that don't fire when you are up on the limiter.
Don is great for tech support too. I've had mine over 2 years.

Installed the Rev n Nator on my 68 Charger today......runs like a champ now! It runs great and has a very crisp throttle. Pulls really hard and I am more than happy with it! Rev limiter is cool too!

And that's also no knock on Don's FBO products at all! His stuff is top notch. I run his limiter plates in a couple of my cars and they work great! I just wanted a box that looked more stock in my resto. If it was a race car, I probably would have used his stuff. I can say though the car runs as good as if not better with the new RevNNator than with the chrome box, without worrying of it dying in 3 months like the last one.

Love this ignition! Just left a car show last night and smacked the throttle at 25MPH and blasted the tires off until 50 MPH. Love having the Rev limiter and not worrying about spinning to 6000 RPM or higher. This stroker likes to spin quick so its hard to catch the peddle half the time. Great feature to have and it runs great after 150 miles so far! Set it to 5000 RPM and just smack the go peddle!

                              :thumbsup::thumbsup:

My 71 440 6bbl in my 70 V-code Roadrunner pulls HARD to 6k. I can't really explain why other than I and others "believe" that the purple stripe cam in it is the 292° .509" lift. 1 7/8" TTi headers, new CompCams lifters, springs, locks, and retainers.
Now once I get it on a nearby Mustang Chassis dyno, and run it, I will know the truth, but since I am about to get a LOT of fuel system parts changed out (Promax, Carter M6903) I am going to wait to go, because A/F ratio through the RPM range and through the gears is something I want to know.
Wideband O2 dual band (1 sensor per side) is a DEFINITE "soon to come" that has been added to "the list".
Anyway, the rev limiter on my ignition and the OP's are such a great safety and performance tool.
For me, ever since I had a rev limiter I now keep my gas pedal on the floor when I shift gears, I have a shift light too, set at 5,800 IIRC and the rev limiter is set at 6,200, which is where my motor seems to drop off-based on when I spin the tires in 1st gear, dozens of times, before the rev limiter, 6,1-6,200 seemed to be where it would level out all the while still spinning and pulling.
I cut 6/10th off a 13.9 in the quarter mile between power shifting, new wheels and drag radials, and switching from a Chrysler electronic ignition to a FBO electronic ignition system. I'm sure power shifting accounts for at least 2-3/10ths of that.
