Original Air Heater core

Any input on these heaters cores? Now that I have dug into ours, I need the heater core rebuilt/replaced, the bypass valve shown rebuilt/replaced, and the heater control valve at the firewall rebuilt/replaced. For Gary to rebuild my core is $300. I can’t find rebuild kits for the bypass valve so $75 if you go new. I have not found a rebuild kit for the control valve either and haven’t priced new/rebuild kit. I would rather rebuild myself but if these are good quality it kills 2/3’s of my problems.

What are you working on? If you have the original heater core, have it rebuilt/tested/cleaned.

I recently had GlenRay rebuild my 69 AC car heater core. They did a great job. $265 plus shipping to get it to them. Work was quick and looks great. They tested my original H valve, determined it leaked internally, so I drop shipped them a Old Air H valve which they installed on the core before returning to me. Just sent my firewall temp control valve to Joe at HeaterValves.net after talking to him on the phone. Appeared to very experienced and nice to speak with, $85 will get it fully restored and shipped back to me. So, I would have the original parts rebuilt versus going to new aftermarket if possible.

Here's my heater core story....bought a new aftermarket core from a fellow FABO, installed it and found the hose connection tubes almost an 1" too short...Trash. Ordered one from Advance, same issue with the tubes, returned for money back. Ordered one from Autozone..came only in aluminum, refused to take it.
Sent my core to Glen-Ray, paid for their good work work and finally I have heat.
Don't waste time and money with aftermarket, go Glen-Ray.
Now there is another option I considered...I could haven taken my original core to a radiator shop, have them unsolder/remove the tubes and transplant them into the aftermarket core. But, I didn't want to chance the shop resoldering the tubes out of alignment. Problem is you won't if the core fits correctly until it is reinstalled.

Spoke with Joe at heatervalve.net. He can handle the heater valve but doesn’t rebuild the h valve. Any source out there for rebuild/parts of just buy new? Classic has them new for $75 which seems pretty steep.

Do they sell a heater core that u don't have to use the h valve to get heat only not really worried about ac

Bypass the valve if thats what you want.

Not that I'm aware of. Because of how the system is plumbed with the copper outlet pipes you need the h valve for the hoses to hook up properly.
