How do you remove the lead plugs at the base of the outer carbs on the 6 pack setup? would 1/2 turn out be the base to start at? thanks.

A quarter turn from stock is plenty.
Be careful when removing the plugs that you don't turn the screws. I'm no expert, but I have found that the screws are very sensitive. Much more than the center carb.

Yes, yes they are!
THIS is THE definitive explanation for adjusting the idle mixture screws on the outboard carbs:

Buy THIS and be done with the struggle of trying to tune the REAR carb on the car:

Even with the Promax base plate, you still need to grind the float bowl for the screw driver access.

Tune the outer carbs from the front position.
Do the rear first, swap them, then tune the front.
That is an option, but with the amount of tuning I have had to do initially, and with all of the future tuning I'm going to have to do what with the Weiand 6bbl intake, and stroker motor plans, I wish I would have had the angled idle mixture screws throttle plate as one of my first purchases years ago.

This works great, replace the idle screws with Allen head type and adjust no problem.
Bought the kit from a fbbo member many years ago, very inexpensive.
Don't need expensive base plates or carb swapping ( swapping front to back is close and has been done forever, but this is a bit more accurate imo).
I've posted this quite a few times when outboard tuning comes up, guess it's not catching on.

I had other business with Promax, and it was very comprehensive, parts and labor, so the angled idle mixture screws throttle plate made a lot of sense to me.
