I am about to buy a new carpet kit for my 74 charger. i threw away all the old padding that was stuck to the floor under the carpet.

what should i replace that stuff with? this is a budget build...

thanks!!

I went to an upholstery shop and bought the length I need. it was very Inexpensive, and it was the material they put under carpet in cars.

ok cool. i'll see if i can find a shop around here that will sell some to me. any idea how many square feet i will need? i imagine that is how they will measure it...

I'm doing pretty much the same thing. I don't have the square ft. because I actually got lucky and had another B Body they had just cut to trace mine out as a template but I can tell you it ran me $125 for enough to do the floor and up behind the dash

i just bought 5 yards of 27 oz jute off of eBay for $47. 35 + 12 in shipping. be careful when you buy it as some will screw you over on the shipping.

Get out your tape measure and add 5%.
I would ball park it at 5' x 8' = 40 square feet. Should be plenty.

I put in A 6X8 SECTION IN A 55 Plymouth coupe. There was very little left, as I also went under the rearseat a bit.

It measure about 6x6 without accounting for the hump so I'll order 7x8 probably to have some extra
