Ok, I'm sure some of you have tackled this challenge. My dash trim, as in the silver stripe around the fake wood paneling and vents, and the "Charger" logo on the dash have faded. I want to give this trim new life. Any idea how to go about it? What paint do I use, what color? Get a tiny detail brush, take a few deep breaths to lessen the shakes and go for it?

Any tips would be appreciated...

Yep! The Sharpie i used works great! I even used it on my tail light bezels to dress them up some..

Eastwood sells a chrome paint. I think the kit cost around 70 bucks. It looks pretty good. I tried with other types of paint in the past and I liked eastwood the best. heres another on thats like Eastwood. http://www.innate.com/Paint/Chrome/Chrome.htm I did quite a few of them. The hardest part is masking. The actual painting takes a fraction of the time.

Here's one that I did. I devolped my own paint but it was to costly to keep making it. It was cheaper to buy the paint. http://wichargerguy.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=general&thread=14567&page=1

i have seen this done with a silver paint pen. get it at wal-mart or any craft store but i dont know how well it holds up.

The paint pen method works great - I did the same thing you want to do last winter! I ended up buying another insert on ebay because some of my vents were broken and painted that one...here's a direct comparison with the old dash insert. It's not 100% correct but it looks 100% better :headbang:

Oh my god, a silver paint pen. Awesome. Tomorrow is Saturday. I've got a date with a Sharpie, my car, and a sixer. Can't wait to get that silver shining!

Thanks again, guys!

It should hold up on a dash but as for my bezels, that remains to be seen but wouldn't be that hard to do it again.. It sleeps inside so time will tell me if they hold up with the silver. but a good point that ive thought about even while i did them, what the heck its my summer daily driver 2-3 days a week, has to start looking rough or im not doing my job! I didn't really mean that! :)
