Just wondering if anyone here has ever attempted to paint vinyl siding? I've heard it can be done but, it's got to be super clean and you have to use a specific type of paint? Thank you in advance.
Thank you. I think I ran across that video while searching a while back. I figure I'd ask here to see if there was any first hand experience.
You can paint vinyl siding, best to use 100% acrylic exterior paint. Rule of thumb is need to select a color lighter than the existing color to prevent warping due to UV, unless you use “example” PPG’s Siding Safe Color Pallet, colors are formulated by removing darker colorants. As with any project prep is key, apply to clean, dry surface. Best to use a siding cleaner to remove any dirt/mildew.
Neighbors house was painted . It was up for sale, it was tan and dinjy . The flipper painted it gray and it sold. They sprayed it. It has been 4 years and so for looks great. When I told the lady she couldn't believe it.
My buddy's garage was painted, just remember vinyl is nailed loose in slotted holes to expand and contract between hot and cold seasons and the seams that overlap open up about a 1/8 to a 1/4 inch and show the original color....thats what happen to his garage anyway. It would be better to paint on a cooler day so the seams are opened wider.
It needs the Krylon touch! Actually their plastic paint is pretty good. Holds up well. I can see it now....painting the house with rattle cans....
