Any reason why I can't use a flame thrower 3 coil with a ready to run dissy that has an ignitor 2 module.

I got the new coil and it says not to use with ignitor one or two modules, is this marketing or is there a technical reason why it shouldn't be used??

i think the ohm's resistance on the igniter III coil is too high.

Go check their site to find out, I don't have that problem so I don't know.

I believe it is a electrical current issue. Similar to NOT using a MSD Blaster 2 coil with a stock Mopar control box.

For big energy to the spark, a big current in the coil is needed. For a big current in the coil a low resistance is needed, which the Flame thrower 3 coil has. Your "old" Ignitor 1 and 2 modules are probably not designed to handle that kind of a big current, and might go up in smoke. Buy an Ignitor 3 module to go with the FT 3 coil.

I had thought I read it was compatible somewhere. It's written on the box, the paperwork isn't very clear but I think your ok to use it with the ballast resistor.

I'm still gonna change coil and get rid of the resistor me thinks. I just thought I'd update the thread. For anyone else
