Does anyone have any pictures of Mopar's with black intake manifolds? I have a new Edelbrock intake but it sat for like 5 years and got like a brown and white oxidation all over it. I gave it an aluminum acid bath to get it all off but it left it looking kind of uneven and not as silver. I powder coat all my own stuff but at the moment I only have bright red, gloss black, clear and a Flat textured black on hand. I really want to get this engine in the car this week and broke in so would rather not wait for the alien silver powder to show up. I could just mount it and after break in pull it off and powder coat it. I have 2 valley pans here so I could just use a new one after and I wasn't planning on using any silicone or paper gaskets on the actual manifold just the pan. Or I could powder coat it black now. problem is I have new black Mopar Performance air cleaner and valve covers going on so it might be way too much black. Decisions decisions LOL

Or I could just run it the way it is. you can see what's left of the Brown down low and I've scrubbed it it doesn't seem to want to come off. Here is something strange in the pictures you can see a different colored spot next to the pad that the Edelbrock badge goes on. That was not visible before the acid bath and it looks like a repair from the factory of some kind. I'm wondering if the put a coat of paint or something on them after they are made.

Just have it bead blasted.

There isn't a place remotely near where I am that does that and it would have to be shipped. The extra money and time wouldn't be worth it I could get powder coat by then. It would probably be a month before I ever saw it again at this point and wanna have the car running by the end of the week. My ability to drive the car is quickly running out in Northern NY.

Mopar intakes, aluminum or not, were painted engine color. What color is your engine?
Still, i would put it together, as is, then remove it and powder coat it the color you really want later.

I may do that.

I agree with 33 IMP, just make sure you prime it with self etching primer before you paint it if you choose to go that route.

Most machine shops have a blast cabinet and would blast your intake for a case of beer.

Buy a cheap sandblaster from harbor freight and some fine sand or glass beads and blast it yourself. It's a great tool to have for the car hobbie.

I'm in the bead blast it bunch
I like the natural aluminum look, far better

black could retain more heat too
Heat in any way, is never good on any performance intake or fuel system

or send it to @CudaChick1968 have her Powdercoat it

I actually own a blast cabinet and a free standing sandblaster. I also powder coat all my own stuff if it will fit in the oven I have. I may powder coat it the silver color haven't decided yet. I was just curious if anyone had any pictures of mopar engines with black intakes. I'm guessing it's not very popular because I can't even find and on Google lol.

Try these. Not my engine (unfortunately) but definitely black.

I myself like the natural aluminum look.
Harbor Freight 50 lb. blast hopper , hose , gun, everything but media and air.
$32.00
You will be surprised how much you can find to blast, plus all the neighbor gals will be hauling over their lawn chairs.
:D

That’s what I was going to suggest.

Just don't get painting an engine black? Is it to make it sinister or hide something, it sure doesn't make me look at it. Witk black you can't see the finer details and appreciate the work.

Thanks but I do my own powdercoating have for several years. I also own my own sandblaster and blasting cabinet. Was just curious about the specific color.
