got a quote for a prosystems carb, sent all my specs off and Patrick at PS sent me a build sheet and sizing, I think I might go with it as it is good priced and a lot of people recommend there carbs.
they use holley main body and metering block standard or venom II upgrade for additional $30. He has recommended using a 1000hp main body and go from there.

here is his reply if anyone interested

"Hi Ben,

Thanks for filling out our online tech form, its appreciated.

For your program one of our 4150 series carbs is what we would build, based off the Holley 1000 HP main body.

Although the specs could vary from this post a little (when we get your components on the bench and start calibrating and sizing them for the combination).

However, we print off your supplied tech sheet and your sheet follows your project around the shop. I use your info to set it all up to your exact program with the intention of being a simple bolt on and we even try to have the idle set for you. But this basic info will still apply.

As can be expected from a custom carburetor, it has our adjustable air bleed configuration, it's on an HP series body (not the cheaper pro form version), has non-stick gaskets, wedged floats (to offset G-forces), Billet (unbreakable) baseplate, VENOM II Black Billet metering blocks, a complete wet-flow portfolio (shows all the jetting parameters for easy jet selection..BUT I AM USUALLY DEAD ON OR WITHIN 2 JET SIZES), a real sharp piece with stepped dog leg boosters, hi-flow needle and seats and big sight glass bowls. Just bolt on and go.

Typically I see a 20-35 hp improvement over an off the shelf unit with much better consistency and excellent driveability.

It also comes with access to our Emergency after hours techline if any tuning assistance is needed.

We'll size it for the exact cfm range when it is on the wet flow bench to match your programs needs. But it'll probably end up being in the 960-1000 REAL cfm range.

We don't pull off the shelf as each unit is custom built to your specs. This minimizes or completely eliminates customer tuning requirements.

Currently we are on a 4 day build time, the price for the Venom II Billet metering block equipped version is $820.00 plus $126.00 freight.

If you want to save $30.00 we can swap out the Venom II Black billet blocks and use modified Holley cast metering blocks (there is a gain of about 5 h.p. with the Venom II Blocks in this application BUT its $30.00 for that 5 h.p....so its your call there).

The price for the modified Holley metering block version (which is the best bang for the buck) is $790.00 and Freight is only $126.00.

Make your choice and just e or call me with a Credit Card # when you're ready and I can get it built.

Glad to be your builder."

"HI Ben,

Back many years ago 850 carbs were what people ran for your power level BUT booster, metering blocks and venturi shapes have gotten better and larger and larger carbs can now be used due to increased signal and atomization of these new designs.
The shipping is $126.00 to your addy."

looking forward to seeing how this goes, here is a pic, I even called him and he reckons if this carb does not put a smile on my face I can happily return it

Patrick is awesome. What he says about larger carbs than the old days is correct as well. Newer carbs don't require the signal of older designs to operate correctly.

There's also the theory that having larger venturis slows the airspeed through the carb, helping it make a smooth transition to the intake port.

Def worth the extra $ if you're looking for a higher perf carb that will get REALLY close to optimum tune as delivered for only a bit more than something off the shelf.

yeh well its not much more than an 850 quickfuel. might as well spend the extra dollars, to match up to my fully ported performer rpm intake the Jim is doing for me.
