Push rod or No pushrod, that is the question?

When I took down my RB engine, I noticed that the previous builder did not use a fuel pump pushrod. The engine was ran with an electric fuel pump, but I thought the oil would pump right out of the pump rod bore with it missing.
Any thoughts?

I don't believe there is an oil passage in the bore for the fuel pump push rod.

The push rod is splash lubed so you can run without it.

OK, it just looked like the main oil feed from the pump tied into the pushrod passage.
My next step was to spray WD-40 into it and see where it leaked out.
