I'm trying to install these - Link

I lubed the channel up good with silicone spray. I'm down to the last 3" on the first one and I'm starting to think I may not get it any further. Is there a trick I'm missing? It surely isn't supposed to be this hard.

Mine slipped right in, no lube needed. Only thing the bottom tab was shorter so a new hole had to be drilled for the screw

I bet that's how it's supposed to be. Did you get yours from Detroit Muscle Technology? I've heard about the short tail problem. 72 is a little different design (uses a tab instead of a screw). My tails appear to be long enough although this one was split.

Dont remember where I got them. Other than the short tail, they went in easy, and seal well, no water leaks when I wash the car.

Interesting that yours seal well, as I've been told these don't.

If anyone knows of another manufacturer, feel free to leave a link to their product.

I will try and see if I can find where I bought them and let you know

That'd be great. I can't budget this thing any further forward. I'll be lucky if I get it out.

Looks like I bought then from Classic industries. I Believe they were made by metro molded parts. I bought parts from DMT, and never had any issues with their parts. Where the old ones hard to remove. Maybe there something in the channel preventing them going in. I would not force it.

Thanks, found and ordered - Link

I noticed Classic Industries has a forum in the vendor's section, and there are a lot of complaints. Hopefully I'll have better luck than some have had. At least this appears to be a different part than what Detroit Muscle Technologies sells.

The Classic Industries weather seals came in today. I lubed one up and it went right on. It took a little tugging at the end, but it's just tight enough to be solidly mounted. Thanks 71RRHI, those old split weather strips really irritated me. They're not a critical part, but I had to see them every time I got in the car.

On a '71, Can the seals be replaced with the 1/4 window installed ? Do they slide out of the Stainless trim piece, ?

Yes, open the door, remove door jamb seal, remove screw in the bottom of the quater window seal, and it should slid down and out

Thank You for the Spot-On advice. I was on my way to replace them However the Metro seals (VS 7-F) I had are too short (About 3/4") They were Supposed to be correct for a '71.I hope to get this resolved with the vendor. So Old seal goes back on.IMG_20220918_130413018.jpg

Here is my experience... from my resto.

Here's my latest purchase, time to start putting those rear quarter windows back, picked these up from National Moparts here in Canada.

Removed the old seal, the new seal slides in and this little metal tab goes through the whole in the rubber seal. Used some silicone spray as the seal was a very tight fit; which of course you want.

As we know with most repro parts they are usually a little off, the hole that was drilled in the seal was out of place so I had to drill a new whole and it had to be a little more oval for the rubber seal to fit over it.

Finished product, I am very happy with it and glad it was available in the aftermarket, mine have always looked like crap.

I don't know of any repo seals that line up with the original screw hole. Just drill a new hole and install the screw. Unless this is a perfect resto, nobody will know and the new seals will keep water out.
