My buddy owns a 1975 Charger, I own a 1976 Cordoba, both original vehicles. Both cars are equipped with the AM/FM mono radios. We went to our favorite recycling salvage center and we scored on AM FM CD Cassette radios out of 1996-1999 Chrysler Town and Country minivans. The radios are a direct bolt in, but has anybody out there converted over the wiring to these B Body platforms. We also got the 2 7 pin connectors out of the minivans, but we are puzzled by the wiring.

What does the ILL pin mean??? Illumination??? Hookup to the light source of our old radios??? What does PARK and MUTE mean on the hookups??? Do they have to be connected????

The rest of hookup of is straight forward stereo connections, but these 3 puzzle us.

Any help is greatly appreciated and thank you to all who respond with further information.

Mopars to all,
Cordoughboy

Well, mute seems self exlanitory. No sound.

Park on the other hand might be power while in park? Key in or out?

The mono radio has a completely different wireing harness than the stereo radio.
You will need the harness fron the Van you got the radio out of. You also will need the speakers as they are different. Its a job to install a factory stereo where a factory mono radio was as you must use the stereo harness.

LOL, nothing like bring up a dead thread! What's with that? Your digging them all up huh?
