I have been slowly inching forward breaking the 9 second wall with small carbs till I burnt a piston because the carbs were to small.I had saved up for a pair of dominators 10 times before getting bigger carbs.Life gets in the way and you gotta do what ya gotta do.A few burnt pistons,,,a few lifter failures and a swallowed valve make for an expensive learning curve. Not to mention braking in the trans, twisting an axel perch and loosing a freeze plug and tapping the wall...
One time I was out of the game for 2 years due to being in engine shop prison and cash flow issues:(
So back in the game I whittled my way through the high 9's before I tried more than 4 lbs of boost on pump gas. That got me into the mid 9's.Then I installed a racepak because the plugs didn't seem to read right. So I learned that being fat is not nessessarily the best tune:rolleyes:
The data was showing a lean spike at the hit that I am still working on with the carb builder,Pat at pro systems designed these SV1 carbs that I chose over dominators from all I read and really like the a look of them.https://prosystemsracing.com/svseries/
Also the AF graf was funky with the waves up and down between 14 & high 11's.That kept me crazy till I tried to raise the boost to 9 or 10#.The slip tube on number 7 cylinder that goes over the chassis rail separated and beat itself up.

So when I had to reseal the intake,,,,the inside of it was black:wtf:,,it was reversion at it's worst.Running through a 4 inch collector to 4 inch stainless pipe back to 3.5 Hooker aerochambers back to 4 inch with tailpipes to the rear bumpers it was still choking the HEMI:mad:!!! Now have 4 inch dumpers before the "X" pipe. I should be able to slip into the 8's with free breathing exhaust:drinks::popcorn:
Best pass to date choking through the tailpipes.

BTW,,that pass was 6# of boost @ 3700 lbs. I'm sure that same tune with open exhaust will go into the 8's and the micro tuning starts again!:praying:

Nice pass in that video Al. Looking forward to hearing about the 8's...

Keep going. One of is going to make it this year. It picked up .007 in 330 on its last pass over it's 9.00 pass, and then broke the pinion gear. Damn that 9.005

Maybe you can come and hang out LVR in may! Maybe even make a few passes:thumbsup:

I will make it a point to be at LVR for Musclepalooza this May my friend. That is always a great time and a lot of my local buddies race their Mopars there that weekend. My engine is finally back from the machine shop but I have not assembled it yet. Need some parts, time and oh ya, money so no passes from me this May...

With just a little more tail wind will push you over that wall
My old cooling fans were from an early 2000's camaro or firechicken.I had to reverse the polarity to make them pushers.Burnt one motor so I replaced both as they don't like changing direction after a few years.Well one weekend at the track the upper fan centrifugally EXploded scarring the new radiator and piece of shrapnel hit the underside of the rad support dinging it and chipping a little paint! 3 steps forward and 1 step back.:BangHead:
