We are a body shop, Customers Jeep was making a little noise in back so we offered to check . Guys that do the normal service on this jeep are here local. Were going to have a talk.
Mike,Noisy rear end cover up. An old used car trick.
Something is goofy here!Mike,
the owner has put the last 60K on this LOL using the same shop for the last 4 yrs of that. It has 102xxx on it only had 40 some when he bought it.

IMO it looks like contaminated /fried gear oil...
It would seem that they spent a bunch of money doing it wrong, and it did'nt help a thing. Of course, I guess you're saying the customer footed the bill for the whole shooting match. I'll never forget being told my '83 Ford Econoline needed ball joints!! I'm like "show 'em to me and I'll let you change them"! He of course discovered it had king pins after I explained to him what king pins were, no ball joints. No wear either. /rolls eyes.
I thought crap like this was over with several years ago. The sawdust trick used to be fairly common. Amazing that bearings lasted so long with just grease. I would like to listen in when you tell them about it. How could they possibly not know? In Panora? That's a small town.....................MO
LKQ, the body shop supplier? I did not know they had a source for used parts. Do they have their own salvage or just the middle man - locator-delivery? .............................MOI was amazed myself mo that the bearings and spyders hung in , Talked to the shop that's been doing the service work today.
Nobody knows nothing, { big surprise } Anyway the guy that owns it is having us get him a used rear axel through LKQ. He's paying the bill and just not going back to them , does not want to fight over it. Well that's all folks. Just thought I would share the WTF I had yesterday. LOL
