Need some advice as to where this needs to go, in or out.

BL is .006 now, closer to .010 pushes the pattern to the face.

Drive is centered but coast is too low I think. Not sure how to get it centered with out moving the drive side.

Have you looked at this yet ? It'll give you an idea of where you need to go .... what's your pinion shim now ? ... I think you need to go deeper

Have I looked at those? Yeah, I’m dizzy. That’s why I’m second guessing. I just went deeper. I think I have an acceptable ‘deep’ pattern. BL is tight at .006. I can open it up .002. I’m gonna beat on it. Slicks on the track.

Are you putting a drag on the ring to get the drive pattern (I use a big screwdriver jammed between the gear and housing)and driving the pinion with the ring gear for the coast pattern?
Mike

Your looking for the drive side to be centered between the top of the tooth and the root. Pinion depth sets this. Then set back lash .006-.008 and send it. Toe to heal means nothing. The last pic is very close. I'd loosen the BL to .008" and check.

Yes, plenty of drag applied. I have the pinion tighter right now than it will be normally.

Yes sir. I got called out of the garage this morning but headed back now. I think opening the BL up will be the ticket with this shim setup.

I ended up back at the shim pack in post 3 with .008. Ran it around the block and it didn’t blow up or make any noise. Also I should have noted the pinion has a center line number etched in and this was the closest to that number. Pattern was still a little low but that’s better IMO since it’ll climb the gear under load.
