several of my dash lights are burned out. the chrysler service manual says all you have to do is reach up under the dash and pull the lights out from behind. But I can't see how this can be done unless you are a contortionist...plus I can't see what I'm doing.

I did pull the front cover off to replace a switch one time, but I remember that the gauge assembly appeared to be sealed, and the lights were way deep down...it does look like they should be pulled out from behind...but damn...I can't get to the suckers.

    Has anyone else done this?

It's not sealed up. It takes more work to replace them from the "outside" but is easier on your body and hands. Be careful to not turn the bulbs, you might turn the socket out and have to go back in behind anyway.

You have the cluster cover, and the clear piece with the labeling, you'll need needle nose pliers to get the pins out that hold the cluster cover on.

    Step by step with pictures!

    Here's a typical Late B body dash.

You will need to unscrew some screws on the bottom side first. You'll need to
pull the window washer nob off, the one for the light will clear the hole. Then
give the faceplate a good pull to release the hiddin clips behind it. Tilt the
dash top side first and this will able you to lift it over the steering console.
Now there's the lens part, there are little round clips holding this unit on. A
needle nose pliers works best pulling and replacing these. Then pull it out the
same way to avoid scratching it. This is what you'll see!
Note: you do not have to separate the rings from the dash plate as seen in pic!

For some of the lights you may need to remove a gauge or two? If so it's not
that hard, a couple of screws and they will slide right out. The fuel gauge
has two wires that are for the low fuel light, there should be no need to pull
these! But if so, mark one so that you place the right wire back in to the
right pin. Now for the speedometer, this one is a little different. It has two
screws and will have some play before becoming disconnected from the
cable. Here is a pic of the dash with no gauges, you can see where all the
    lights are located.

For the lights with blue caps, you will need to squeeze the two catches
together in order to pull them off. The light bulbs only need to be pulled out,
do not turn them! If you turn them if may damage the printed circiut board
behind. Here's a picture of what the board looks like. Doing it this way saves
wear & tear on that board :)

Good luck, from this point all you need do is put it back together again.
