replacing master cylinder

I'm replacing the master cylinder on my 1970 Superbird. The piston on the old master cylinder was flush with the mounting flange. On the new master cylinder it's sticking out about 3/8". Is this okay? Do I need to adjust he push rod in the power brake booster and make it 3/8" shorter? I'm new to the Mopar world and haven't seen this before.

Thank you, this is exactly the issue I'm dealing with. It should have been an easy bolt off/on replacement but...
