Would a 1971 SE vinyl bucket ( All vinyl, 6 buttons on seat and back) accept the 1971 RT upholstery , I mean it wouldnt make sense they would make a bunch of different seat frames, but i want to make sure before i buy these as cores and find out they wont work. What about the foam , is that different?
Thanks

I should say i think its a 1971 seat, but after cruising google images for 72 73 and 74 chargers , the 6 button seats look the same to me , so who knows. I hear tell there was some kind of switch in spring design or attachmnet method at some point. and also some kind of change to the backs, hard versus soft?

Pics? There is an early and late 71 frame. The early is the same as a 70. The covers should fit either but the foam will likely need to be changed.

Earliers 71 share buckets frame than 70
Laters 71 share same frame than 72s and on.

Vinyl cover… same but foams and seat back panels not. Earliers are spring loaded on backs, laters not, so foam changes on backs at least, pretty much bottoms are the same.

Panels… earliers are plastic but with extra metallic trim for hinge covers and longer back release button, just like 70s. Laters are one piece back panel including hinges just like 72/74 and more squared and visible release button… Chromed button thought, while 73/74 are color matched.

Just to add on the backs, B-bodies used the hard plastic backs through 74 while A/E went to a soft back in 73.
