Time to upgrade. New windows all around. 19. The ancient system from the late 70’ or early 80’s still works. When any window or sliding door is opened there is a brief beep. Window installer says they will leave a wire at each window but won’t drill into frames. Also the Arlo cameras outside are hokey. Considering a complete new system easy to use and check remotely on iPhone. Recommendations please. Older triple mobile. 1850 square.

Sorry, edit not working. Pic previous post is one of the decrepit sliders that’s going. 95125.

We have CPI security in our new home. It's great as I can monitor the system and watch all the cameras from wherever I am on my phone. I can also lock the doors, and arm the system remotely which is a great feature when you're married to a blonde.

An added bonus: I saved 10% on my homeowner's insurance.

If the house is already wired at windows and doors, I would just replace the contacts. Then replace the control panel that has wifi/internet capability. Get one that also allows you to add wireless devices ( motion sensors, cameras, etc) if you want to upgrade. Also, instead of monitoring over copper phone lines, you can get cell monitoring which bad guys can't disable by just cutting your phone lines. You can probably do it yourself if you have basic electrical skills. Control panels and cell device all available online, along with monitoring service.

I got an alarm, sensors on windows/doors, a touchscreen control panel and just 1 camera through xfinity, not too bad.

You got yourself a vintage Ademco panel right there. Borderline museum piece. Probably still works like it should. Whoever the provider you chose will install their ‘go to’ product. Resideo, 2-Gig, etc.

For the windows, we have screens that were wove and with a magnet/reed switch in the screen frame. Wire goes to the window like you have. If the screen gets cut or removed it trips the alarm. Switches like you have are great if the window is closed but if they climb through the frame nothing goes off. Also, you can’t have your windows open and have the alarm set unless you bypass.

Either they pry the window open or break the glass. Glass break sensors. Agree on the bypass.

You do know that Amazon or Google, I forget which owns Ring, can hack in and watch through your doorbell camera.

Out here in the middle of nowhere, we're all armed. And the neighbors are home all day and very watchful. A lot of Gadsden flags flying around these parts. One of those Antifa knuckleheads up in Cleveland was saying "and you people in the country... we're coming for you next." LOL!! I don't recommend that.
