Can anyone tell me how the shipping costs have affected the sale of any part you have stopped the sale of it?? USPS just raised rates in a matter of several days of a quote for shipping, FedEx & UPS is just ridiculous on pricing. How is every one else being able to ship their parts without giving them away?? Lets hear it from you guys!

All shipping rates have skyrocketed here in Canada as well. I don't sell a lot of car parts that need to be shipped but I do sell other stuff and encourage customers to buy more - not to put money in my pocket but to maximize on the shipping. The flip side is buying online from Amazon the shipping is dirt cheap and even free with Amazon "Prime" !! Anything I have to ship to the US I try do do when I'm making a trip down and then I'll ship USPS with a flat rate box.

It's not because of the price of fuel so what is it?

I do a lot of that through ebay and my own website and I have never stopped selling something because of shipping prices, although I have come close. There are cases where there is not a lot of profit after shipping, but I get the person what they need for the project and hopefully they come back for more.

I lost an intake sale due to high cost of shipping.. UPS wanted 90.00 to ship a cast Iron 383 intake lol.. Buyer couldn't see spending 190.00 on a cast iron intake.

Think shipping is expensive in Canada? Try shipping in NORTHERN Canada. You have no idea.
I could dazzle you for days, but here’s two of the best:
I buy four screws and a washer for a drywall taping machine. Four screws, and a washer about the size of a nickel.
The guy on the phone says shipping will be $104.00. That’s right, one hundred and four dollars just for shipping, WITHIN CANADA! I respond with: “why wouldn’t you just drop them in a bubble envelope and mail them for about five bucks?”
A week later a small bubble envelope arrives with my screws and washer.
Another time I buy an extractor and pin for a Remington 22 semi auto rifle from a parts supplier in the states.
Both parts could be covered by a dime, literally.
A week or so later I receive a small box in the mail. It is full of bubble wrap, and in the bottom is the pin. About a sixteenth of an inch in diameter, about three eighths of an inch long. Postage was US$21.50.
The next day an identical box arrives, full of bubble wrap. In the bottom is the extractor. About the size of a fingernail clipping. Postage was also US$21.50.
Both parts could have easily been mailed in a normal envelope, for the price of a stamp.

if you have been in the game for long
its all part of the deal.
its the main reason why I go to Carlisle every year
or I would of skipped it a least a few times.
to use it as a shipping hub for large parts
                networking with people.
fenders, hoods ,doors quarter panels and plenty more..

                  Canada is dirt cheap compared
to Europe or the middle east.
where you get bills in the mail for Tariffs
                  and import fees months later..lol

We do too, depending on the carrier.

Some places in the states do the same thing! Ordered a spline coupler that was 1 1/2" in diameter and 2 1/4" long and shipping was nearly 20 bucks while the part was 15 bucks and the distance wasn't but a few hundred miles away........and the box was 6 times bigger than the part and full of bubble wrap.

I think that is is partially because of so many companies offering FREE shipping on products. They have to make up that money somewhere.

Who's eating the shipping? The shipping companies aren't doing it for free. I think someone like Summit depends on the amount of volume they move to offset the shipping cost. "Anything over $99" free shipping.

Places like Summit and Jegs probably get a much better rate because of the volume of shipping they do. Some of the Hobby Companies offer free shipping when over $100 and their boxes are pretty big, but not as heavy.

I sent my 1965 Coronet cluster to the East coast (from MI) for around $20.00. It came back (rebuilt speedo, recalibrated temp gauge) with a return shipping of $83.00. I rolled it up in bubble wrap placed in a box approximately 8x8x24, it returned in a box approximately 40x40x10 totally encased in yards of giant bubble wrap. I had trouble finding it!

IMO Amazon and other high volume sellers are given big breaks (subsidies) in shipping - somebody has to pqy for it

Unfortunately, you and I are subsidizing the cheap prices given to big/preferred customers
