RE: '72 SSP project vehicle.
It seems the factory installed both felt-like bumpers/guides and rubber bumpers/guides on the inside door skins to channel and protect all the side glass. With time, the felt guides look like they are still hanging in there (barely) but the rubber ones I think have disintegrated into pieces which exposes the glass to sharp metal edges.
I am not certain what the rubber guides looked like or how they were secured (or how many there were originally). I don't remember seeing them for sale anywhere. I think what I have left are just the "pedestals" that the rubbers sat on.
I think the window glass will be prone to scratches if some kind restoration does not take place. I purchased a rubber squeegee today at Home Depot and I was thinking about cutting up the rubber blade into pieces in order to substitute for the missing factory parts.
Anyone have any experience fiddling around with this stuff? Thank you.
