I'm sure this is common knowledge to some of you, but I've seen head weights asked about and lots of general 'oh pretty good' type answers so I thought I'd post these. We like real info!

    '452' assembled................49.9 lbs
    '452' bare.........................45.4 lbs
    Edelbrock RPM assembled..29.1 lbs
    Edelbrock RPM bare...........23.7 lbs
    TF 240 assembled.............32.0 lbs
TF 240 bare......................??? I dunno, didn't strip one down just to weigh it:)
(If I remember to do it later when I set up the springs, I'll update)

    These are all Big-Block heads.
Assembled heads are castings with valves/springs/hardware only, no rocker gear.
The Edelbrocks are milled .020" with no porting or other machining.
The 452s have stock valves/springs/hardware with the exception of P/C-type seals. The only machining is a .005" deck skim and the minor cutting needed for the seals.

I don't have any or I would! I'd guess them to be close to the Edelbrocks though.

As much grinding as I've done my bare 915 casting's should be about 30 lbs... But their not..... LOL.... I'll try to scale them in the next few days...

I can tell ya the stock 440 Magnum pistons were 860 Grams... The stock wrist pin was an additional 220 grams.. And the stock rods were 900 grams....

So the stock piston and pin is nearly 2.4 lbs...

Each new Icon forged piston & wrist pin is a half pound lighter

The grant (maybe, no i.d.) dome pistons i took out of my maxwedge were over 1000 grams.....

without the pin! They had 1/4" thick steel welded to the crank cheeks to balance them.

Were these the heavier rods? LY's are about 840.

I didn't bother to go there... At the time I figured I'd get back to it but after deciding on a piston that takes a .990 pin & looking at the cost of rod bolts, small end bushings, my time I decided to order new rods....

Back to the o.p , My victor knock offs are only 6 pounds apiece liter than the 915 heads I sold . One maybe a little liter , , I had to grind the heck out of the front of the pass. side for clearance on the fast 2.0 dist. that they use on their fuel inj. , they use a chevy type w/ a mopar blade on the bottom.

To be honest the rod might have been 895ish... But I slid the weight over to the left & it didn't hit level, then I slid it back to the right & dropped another 100g on the scale & it seemed just a touch to much.... I wasn't looking for the final numbers, just wanted a starting point...

We know factory tolerances were not great, but obviously generally good enough. Just a little hard to imagine that a rod with a 4 gram tolerance would be 50 grams over.

            My 915s weighed 48.4 lbs
My Eddy RPM/Mopar Heads weighed 26.8 lbs. CNC ported and Ti retainers.

Max port on a set of 286 closed chamber maxwedge iron heads. Castings, valves springs and retainers, no rockers, shafts or shaft stands. 42 lbs each.
For giggles and reference.....speedmaster aluminum big port big block chevy heads, same condition....32 lbs each.
(I have a set of iron closed chamber 396 chevy heads i was gonna weigh to compare, but where they are under the bench.... i couldnt lift em. Lol.
