I have a six pack engine sitting in my garage that is stamped
G 440
11 18 2
On the front of the motor with a date of 10 14 70 cast on passenger side and a 1G158897 on passenger side lower pad. I was told this was correct for a 1970 car but I always thought the F 440 went in a 1970.

You are correct. 11 18 2 would be toward the end of the calendar year 1970 and the 71's would have come out in September of 70. Plus the G confirms that it was assembled for installation in a 71 model year car.

Check the VIN again, is it a "C" or a "G"? The chances are it is a "G" meaning it came in a B body. I can't think of any 6bbl cars made at "C" plant for 71.....

what car built in 71 would have the six-pack?Just asking.

Charger, Superbee, GTX, Roadrunner, Cuda, Challenger.

Was the six pack on the motor when you got it?

And unless you can match the vin to a known car,you don't know for sure it is actually a 6pk engine or if you know for sure it has "NEVER" been apart.

Sixpac ID

Here's an engine that I got with my car, N96 air cleaner, 71 auto carbs, A-12 intake "not original to the enging", steel crank, sixpac rods and damper, 452 heads with red springs, top pad G 440, 4 5 HP A, cast 2-11-71, vin 1D259976. What kind of car would this have come in according to the vin?

1have g 440 1971 cast number 7 23 70

Some times I have a hard time spelling the word heavy:upside down:

What C body would have had heady duty internals? Hwy Patrol car?

By 71 the 440HP motors got heavy rods so if you got a 375 horse (TNT) motor in your Chrysler you had 6 pack internals. This was also true for 71 b-bodies. My guess is that they had a bunch of parts stockpiled and once they decided to drop the 6 pack option for 72 they were just using them up.

No HP stamp on the flat pad? Very odd for a 6bbl motor not to have that designation.

Hi hi all 1971 440 with HP with a 440 4 Barrel come with heavy duty rods and the vibration damper Hemi oil pan 9.71 346 heads a 1971 440 six pack motor comes with 10 point three compression with for Relief vows the only way again you can check it if you have to pull the heads off the motor a 1971 440 no HP has 8.8 t01 Pistons

Sixpack engines have valve reliefs in the pistons and the three bolt hemi type timing chain gear.

I definitely have valve reliefs in the flat top pistons in my steel crank heavy rods eccentric balancer 440+6bbl
I need to check the raised ID numbers on my block again and confirm the date of the block...My understanding is the engine is a 71 in my 70 V-Code Roadrunner
