I have benn trying to adjust my shifter linkage on my 73 Charger 340. The trannt is a 727 but I think I may have the wrong gear selector lever. I have an L shaped one on now but I think it should be straight.
Which is correct?
Thanks
AL

Adjustment can only be done on the rod connecting the bottom of the shift "pole" (the part that passes through the floor) to the tranny. Make sure the tranny's shift lever is all the way forward (park), place the shifter in Park, then loosen up the tension nut on the end of the connecting lever so it's forcing the tranny lever all the way forward when the shifter is in the Park position. Then tighten the nut.

I have been looking at some levers on ebay, and elsewhere and I see that Hurst and B&M have a lever that is L shaped which looks like the one I have. I belive the 727s came with a straight shifter lever.

Would anyone know the proper shifter lever for a 73 Charger 340 with a slapstick . I thought I knew which one to look for but now I am not quite sure. I found a picture showing one straight and one dog leg...which one is correct.
Thanks
AL

Thanks Tom that is just what I needed to see, so the straight one it is...now who's got one LOL.

This is the lever that was on one of my 72’ floor shift cars, not the original 727 and never got to drive it so not sure if all the detents lined up with the gear selector positions. Based on the service manual diagram, I’ll be starting out with it. The column shift 727 and 904 equipped cars I have had the straight lever.

LOL.. This is where is gets confusing, because that is the one my book shows as well. The one on it now is dog legged but very short arm so I am sure it was from a after market shifter. Who knows maybe both the straight and the angled ones work.
Back to thinking I should get both LOL
