Howdy everyone. The slapstick shifter on my 71 Satellite was clunky at best. I pulled it... soaked it in Purple Power.... soaked it in Evap-o-rust and have a couple questions.

1. Should I lubricate it? If so, with what and at which points?
2. Where can I get a replacement spring?

Have you tried Tony's Parts for the spring?

Since the spring only broke off at the "hook" I just took a pair of pliers and bent out a new hook. I used white lithium grease to lube the contact points.

Seems to be good as new now.

Always go light on the grease. only the grease on the actual contact point is useful, the rest is just a dirt magnet.
