Took a photo tour to see the leaves and drove up and over the Green Mountains on Rt 17 then up Rt100 to Stowe and up over Stowe Mt. on Rt108 through Smugglers Notch. Enjoy.

Very nice, went to NH. last year for a surprise 40th anniversary trip about this time. Just an incredible drive thru VT. NH. Stayed by the White mountain area. New England is beautiful this time of year.

Nice country, love all the colors this time of year...

Ajax looks happy... :bananadance:

thanks for sharing with all of US Ghost

Great pics! Haven't been through that beautiful area in 25 years. NE is my favorite US place to visit especially during autumn.

Thanks guys. We almost missed it this year with bad weather during peak days. Got up there a few days late but still very colorful. That notch is closed in the winter. During the rest of the year anything larger than a family van is strongly encouraged to take a different road. Very narrow road at the top of the pass and it winds around and through glacial rock deposits where two cars cannot fit at once. This picture is the actual "notch" where the road winds around a rock....

Tractor trailers are NOT allowed up there.... there's absolutely no way they would get through.

Vermont is a diverse ecosystem. On the West side of the Green Mts. it's about 20* warmer than the East side. We call it the "Banana Republic of VT" here. The differences in elevation result in varying climate zones. There always seems to be a high and dry spot over the area from New Haven on down to just above Rutland and the Champlain Lake to the Western slopes of the Greens. Right where my house is. Both sides of the mountains are very different.., then if you go way up North and East to the " NE Kingdom" area it's a completely different scene from Southern VT.
