I’m not talking about the seal on the radiator support. But there seems to be something missing creating a gap I don’t quite remember having under the front of the hood. Is this normal or should there be something to fill this space?

There’s a long black rubber seal that clips along the underside of the hood in that area

I’ve got that in place (actually missing 1 clip). But there just seems to be a bigger than I remember gap from the bottoms of the hood trim to the bumper(but hey, more air flow right)

Here's a front end photo of my 74 Charger Rallye. You can see the grey bumper filler under the hood. Nothing else.

ah yes, the grey unobtanium filler strip. Oh well, I guess I forgot that I never had that piece.

Believe it or not, a batch of these bumper center fillers were made back about 12 or 13 years ago at least. I bought a set, but there wasn't much interest seems like. They were actually good reproductions. I wish they were made now.

seems a good market as the 3rd gens are starting to garner a little more interest.
